Saz cat type protection action plan completed
The presence of the saz cat, one of the five types of cats that maintain its presence in our country, is closely associated with the prevention of factors that threaten itself such as habitat loss, reduction of hunting and illegal hunting. For this purpose; the Protection Action Plan, which synthesizes the information contained in the work carried out so far about the data and type obtained by field researches, reveals the steps that type must be taken for more effective protection while determining the living spaces within Adana province limits. The Action Plan, prepared by considering the protection status of national and international scale according to the IUCN criteria, was completed with the participation of experts from science and academn world with the official institutions and organizations in the region.
The Akyatan Wildlife Development Area, which is located in the province limits of the Adana, was mapped by digitizing the data obtained by land studies carried out in Eggs and Tuzla Lagini. Plan defines actions to be carried out under protection and management, scientific research and monitoring, awareness creation, capacity development, training and coordination headers. [
WWF-Turkey Natural Protection Director Dr. Sedat Pen was founded in the field of land, which lasts 47 days. A total of 35 times of the type from the obtained images was recorded by photocapan, which was detected in six of them. This is an indication that areas of work are ecologically healthy. The Plan that reveals the biology, ecology and life cycle of the Saz cat also contains important information about other living creatures in the natural habitat in Adana. In this respect, Plan has been a comprehensive study in terms of evaluation of the conditions required to maintain its existence by putting theaz cat into the center,” said.
