Today the technology world comes in the beginning of the topics in the agenda. Eco-friendly technologies are becoming increasingly common. In all stages such as testing, production and distribution, efforts are increasing in terms of more sensitive approach to the environment.

With environmental technology understanding, recycling applications are also important. When energy sources around the world are thought to be rapidly reduced, it is easier to understand how important it is to save energy to be provided with technology products that become part of everyday life. For example, when considering the total life cycle of a mobile phone, it can be said that it is possible to reduce the effects on the environment in all stages.

Nokia leads the sector with environmental applications. For example, users offer mobile devices that remind the charger when the charging process is completed and remember the plug of the device from the socket. Thanks to this function, it can save energy up to 100 thousand houses in Europe. Furthermore, Nokia also offers packages that the material rate is reduced by 54 percent. Thanks to these packages, less vehicles are used for product distribution, fuel consumption and carbon release significantly minimizes and saves.

Back conversion priority[

Today Nokia cell phones can be subject to 65-80 percent recycling. Applications for Nokia products in mobile devices continue in accordance with legal requirements. Nokia has launched its products back-up campaign at the end of the first 90s. Backing unwanted mobile phones and mobile phone accessories in 85 countries through the created collection points, Nokia supports campaigns carried out by retail vendors, operators and authorized local units.

Homegrown (In Home Grown) Project

[

Nokia design team runs a project called “Homegrown” (grown in the house). The project explores how mobile devices can be done in more sustainable formats in the next 3-5 years. The concept developed by the team caters to certain environmental and social problems such as recycling, energy, social scope; the advantages of mobile technology are delivered to more people. Four concepts have been developed in this frame:

]

]• Remade (New Manufacture) ][– It focuses on how recycled materials can be used on mobile device construction.

]

• Zero Waste Charger (Stired Charge) – Removing of chargers from a mobile device but research methods to reduce the energy waste formed in case of being installed on the grid outlet.

• People First (Human First) – Three universal sizes of thinking about people’s communication - time, lists and people – taking into account, the new user examines interface ideas. The following principles are available to create a product or solution that can carry value for everyone. [

• Wears in, Note out (You're New) [– With the start of serving more on mobile devices, people are looking for how to upgrade their devices in the future not physically but digitally. This gives people an additional option on how to use and update their mobile phones.

Environmental products[

The manufacturer of the first application of the European Union Directive for restricting the use of harmful substances to the environment, Nokia takes care of fulfilling its obligations in packaging wastes, batteries and electronic wastes. In the service network, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Standards conduct regular tracking through inspections. Nokia, which started to benefit from “green energy” in 2007, aims to meet 50 percent of global energy needs by 2010 using “green energy”.

Nokia 3110 Evolve is a nice example of environmentally friendly Nokia products. This mobile device contains biological cover made of 50 percent recyclable material, it is offered with the most energy-efficient charging adapter, which spend 94% less energy in a small package made of 60 percent recycled materials.

Greenpeace approval[

Nokia authorities express that they believe that they are important responsibilities to respect the environment and act ethically. Environmental concerns shape design and production processes. Environmental and corporate responsibility is among the main elements of Nokia brand and culture. Nokia also aims to determine sector standards with initiatives that contribute positively to its activities. They express that they went to the direction of changing office habits as the first step in achieving this purpose. Nokia continues to search for ways to protect nature with offices set with this understanding.

Nokia authorities note that Greenpeace draws gold of environmental applications in their company rankings, recycling their products, increasing energy efficiency, using renewable energy and eliminating harmful substances from products. In addition, Nokia’s investments for recycling and recycling programs across the globe are also examples.
