In Denmark, a big step was taken to reduce the use of fertilizer in the fight against climate change, protect nature and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Social Democrats had a comprehensive agreement with three-party governments, Socialist Public Party, Conservative Public Party, Liberal Alliance and Social Liberal Party, along with 10 percent of agricultural lands in forest and natural living areas. This conversion project will be implemented within the ‘Green Triple Agreement, covering 1 billion trees in the next 20 years.

Denmark will also tax the greenhouse gases emitted by livestock from 2030 under the fight against climate change. By 2030, farmers engaged in livestock will pay tax to each ton of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.

Human source methane gas emissions, fossil fuels, garbage and wastes are caused by livestock. Metan creates about 20 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Denmark aims to be a leading role in achieving global climate targets by reducing this release.
