Evreka: New route to waste collection
The population living in cities continues to grow and spread cities to wider areas. On the one hand, the new infrastructure leads to the need for housing and transportation investments, on the other hand, it is necessary to revise and optimize traditional systems according to the growing population.
waste collection, which is indispensable for cities, is among these systems. The waste collection work is done depending on the static routes. So waste tools visit every garbage container without looking for full or empty. This inefficient method leads to more labor, time and energy use, increasing costs and carbon emissions.
Evreka developed by Evreka saves time and energy by allowing waste collection tools to go only full garbage containers. How?
- Firstly measured the fullness rate of garbage containers with wireless occupancy detection sensors, sent to this data cloud system with intermachine communication (M2M) technology.
- The collected data is processed in a forecast algorithm and the filling time of the trash can is estimated and containers that need to go for waste vehicles are determined.
- These points are converted into daily waste collection routes and messages waste collection tools to navigation system. Thus, the driver can see from the smart screen or mobile devices in the vehicle where it should be reached by following the route.
- The drivers following the optimized route are only going to the full garbage containers. [
- After all, time and energy loss are avoided, it minimizes carbon emissions and can save up to 55% in garbage collection cost.
Evreka, which is worthy of many awards with Smart Garbage Collection System, continues its work in METU Teknokent.
] in our country according to the information shared byEvreka:[
- The tools used for the collection of domestic waste are 45 billion km in the year and leads to 35.000 tons of carbon emissions.
- There is a top container for 50 people in Turkey.
- A person produces rubbish up to six times of his weight in an average of one year. [
- Mugla, Edirne, Kars at the beginning of the list of garbage production per person in Turkey, Trabzon, Rize and Hakkari are located at the end of the list.
