Efficiency Week Special: Water Efficiency

This year is held between 25 April-1 May Datativity Week]]. We share information about water efficiency in the second of the contents we prepared specifically for this week...

Artan has a importance that will affect the future of the world, water resources that continue to remain limited despite the population and growing economies. Over the past 50 years, global water consumption is estimated to increase by 50% in developing economies in the next 10 years and 18% in advanced economies.
[
The indispensable water of life is an important input for production and the figures become more assertive when it comes to production: Approximately 400 percent of the demand used in the water production between 2000-2050 is expected. The need for water consumption of our country is expected to increase 3 times in the next 25 years.

]
Each drop water used in production burns products as water footprint. There are many things we can do to minimize our individual and socially water footprint. First we need to adopt applications that help save water in our homes and offices. This type of daily habit changes to support the sustainability of the water, relieve our bills in the short run.

]

Then we can focus on our water footprint and our impact on nature, thinking slightly larger. By choosing conscious products we use, it is possible to reduce our footprint in water by turning our waste back, not only water, but also energy saving; by establishing a sustainable life with summary.

In Turkey, 11 percent of the water is used in the industry, 15 percent in homes and 74 percent in agriculture. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention to the efficiency projects in production and agriculture. [
[

] The reason why the lion share in water consumption takes agricultural production, wild irrigation methods. 75 percent of the water used in agriculture is consumed in the form of salma irrigation, 17 percent of raining and 8 percent drip irrigation. The use of methods such as drip irrigation in agricultural production leads to healing not only in many different areas. With drip irrigation, it can water up to three floors using the same amount of water with salma irrigation. Thus, the agricultural fields that are left from thirst are brought into production, the efficiency is increasing. Intelligent use of water in agriculture prevents salting and erosion of the territory.

The water efficiency projects come from mind, waste water treatment and reuse, the collection of rainwater, modernization and maintenance of the machine equipment park, the use of water-efficient faucet and installation materials. Moreover, these types of projects provide significantly added value as they trigger many different areas in the production process. With water efficiency projects, the energy cost, the use of raw material and repair costs are reduced, the fall is also seen in the greenhouse gas release. As a result of all these studies, with the efficiency provided in the production process, more and more quality products appear. [

The most used sectors include food, beverage, textile, agriculture, energy production, marine, entertainment and production. With many innovative efficiency applications in these sectors, it can save different proportions in water. For example, some big beverage companies continuously reduce the water used in production facilities for the last 10 years. The water used in swimming pool, shower and wash basins in a 500-room tourist facility can be saved about 30,000 m3 water annually with reuse in areas such as irrigation and cooling tower. In a large-scale chemical production facility, automaticized systems and high-tech equipment can reach 130.000 m3 levels of annual water saving.
