Escarus, which offers leading consultancy services for sustainable development of Turkey, attracted attention to the issue of waste management at 18 March Recycling Day. Dr. Kubilay Kavak, Managing Director General of Escarus, who said that the annual amount of waste produced for the moment in the world is 2 billion, about 33 million tons for Turkey, “The resulting wastes have become an important barrier for heavy economic load, threats to the future, sustainable development. The blocking, reduction of waste formation, reuse of waste, dissemination according to type, collection, recycling, recovery, disposal, disintegration and inspection activities should be performed according to the prescribed procedures in the regulation,” said.

[ The Kubilay Kavak, who reminds the world Bank to increase 70 percent of the amount of waste by 2050, has marked that wastes should not be created at any time if possible, and should be assessed according to different purposes of use. If waste is not suitable for use for different purposes, Kavak recorded that products should be recycled; “The amount of waste by a study made by the World Bank will increase 70 percent by 2050 and these wastes will result in 238 billion tons of CO]2]. In order to minimize the negative effects of waste, it is necessary to raise the recycling rate of 11.9 percent in our country.

Kubilay Kavak, which emphasizes the fact that it has great importance to decompose in the source of waste for recycling, has different storage conditions. So wastes should be collected and stored separately. If the efficiency of waste recycling is desired to be increased, the waste should be blocked with each other. As mentioned in Zero Waste and On First Development Plan targets, the collection system in different boxes should be expanded and the awareness of the people in recycling is provided. Kavak said: “The greenhouse gas emissions caused by the waste of 2017 are 17.3 million tons of CO2] and this value constitutes 3 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling wastes is important for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions caused by climate change. ”
