Homes that produce their own energy

College students across Europe are sweating for home project competition that consume zero energy. Instead of consuming household energy designed with ecological materials, it will produce energy.

The “Solar Decathlon” competition, which was held since 2002 of the US Ministry of Energy, is carried out in Europe this year. 20 engineers student groups will compete from different universities will participate in the competition with home projects where solar energy is used. This year, the preparation of the competition to be held in Madrid started. In the event that student teams will participate in German Universities, they started to build the model of home projects that provide maximum efficiency from the solar energy to design students at the Berlin Technical and Economics High School campus.

Students start to build the skeleton of wood houses, which are the maximim yield on the campus. They define their houses as a super house created with super wood with super angles.

The new energy home project, which can be used by 30 students, will be prepared by 30 students and completed in short time. Students who are involved in the project speak that the pressure caused by limited time is positive impact on motivations. Moreover, they are proud of their own, as they run the project without financing.

The foundation of the project is to build houses that provide all the energy from the sun. Students who read architecture for home to be created with small but completely ecological material carefully choose the materials. The biggest feature of the house can produce more energy than it is spent. Students from environmental engineering are working only in the project where solar energy is used. [

Three systems are designed for home. For the most efficient use of the sun, they first place solar energy panels on the south facade of the roof. Thanks to the photovoltaic system, it can turn into energy by collecting home solar. The window of the house is installed from the same layouts. Finally through thermal collectors for hot water and calories, the water heating of solar energy is provided.

Students who complete the preparatory stage of the project, they set up the house, to take the competition to be held in Madrid, they are remounting. The house designed in the form of roof, floor and body, will be sampled to zero energy consumption houses planned to be expanded in the future. It is noted that houses that produce more energy, which are used and spent on solar energy, are particularly attractive for countries in the warm climate belt.
