Carbon removal methods 30 times increased
In the report titled ‘Carbondioxide Removal Status’, released by a group of experts from Europe and the USA, about 37 billion tons of carbon dioxide released in a year to the atmosphere was highlighted that only 2 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide were captured and quickly closed this gap in reaching global climate targets. In addition, new methods used in carbon removal have been indicated that 2 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide formed only one thousand and more investments should be made to these technologies.
]Lower cost
From the authors of the study, the Mercator Global Joint Assets and Climate Change Research Institute, Jan Minx expressed that the ‘preparedly’ behind in carbon removal. Minx noted that a ‘right’ strategy can be possible with the expansion and rapid development of carbon capture methods. Oliver Geden, the German Institute of International Businesses and Security Works that contribute to research, said that natural carbon removal tools such as wooding are lower cost but limited compared to artificial methods. The aim of keeping the global temperature rise of the international society at 1.5 degrees Celsius was highlighted that new carbon removal methods should increase 30 times until 2030. [
