The world’s hunger
UNICEF’s recent Global Food Crisis Report, which was prepared with the contribution of UNICEF’s (Unified Nations Help Fund) and published in 2025, revealed that the acute food assurance and insufficient diet has increased in sixteen years. While more than 295 million people struggle with hunger in 53 countries and regions, this figure means an increase of 13.7 million compared to last year.
The main causes of food crises[
The report collects the reasons behind the increase of hunger under four main titles: conflicts, economic crises, climate extremities and mandatory dislocations. It is noted that these don’t get together and the areas that are fragile in the form are becoming more vulnerable. Especially conflicts stand out as the biggest trigger of hunger by affecting over 140 million people in 20 countries and regions. While the scarcity is confirmed in Sudan; there is a disaster-level hunger in regions such as Gazze, South Sudan, Haiti and Mali. [

inflation affects about 59 million people in 15 countries. The main reason for crisis in countries such as Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen is economic disruptions. El Niño triggered drought and floods faced more than 96 million people in 18 countries.

Why does it remain weak?]
According to the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres, the financing for human assistance is seriously reduced. This is evaluated not only systems, but as failure of all mankind. The hunger is no longer sustainable but the world continues to close its eyes. UNICEF and its partners highlight not only urgent aids, but should focus on long-term solutions. Investment in local food systems, supporting programs that increase endurance and getting to the center of the needs of communities, the main steps recommended to manage the crisis sustainablely.
